The unique superbike race in the region, Bahrain Superbike Championship or BSBK ended up their first season with final round last Friday at the BIC, Sakhir and held it’s first gala dinner at The Westin Bahrain City Center. Motorcycle club representatives, VIP’s, Bahrain International Circuit BOD’s, BSBK Riders, and media attended the event.
It was a night of appreciation and awarding for all sectors that have contributed the success of the first season of the BSBK.
Riders from Qatar won the overall champions for the BSBK season 1. Mishal AlNeami and Fahad AlSuwaidi from Ooredo racing team marked the 1st and 2nd place overall champions while Ali AlShammari got the 3rd place overall champion. Presenters of the awards are Shk. Salman Bin Isa Al Khalifa, CEO for Bahrain International Circuit, Mr. Essa Al Awadi, President of Bahrain Motorcycle Club (BMF) and Sofyan Almoayed, Managing Director for Khalid Almoayed and Sons.
Special awards were also given to riders who performed their special skills and improved the racing skills.
The event commemorates the special participation and supports that the BSBK received from the main sponsors. Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF), Bahrain Motorcycle Club (BMC), Seven Friday, Pirelli, The Westin Bahrain City Center, and Wheels of Arabia, received a plaque of appreciation presented by the two motorcycle brothers who incepted the birth of Bahrain Superbike Championship in the Kingdom, Abdulrahman Almoayed and Hussain AlKooheji.
Bahrain Superbike Season 1 lasted for 5 months with 6 Rounds that includes 12 races. It involves 15 racers that signed up for the whole season and had 3 wilds cards that joined 1 round within the season. The championship is formatted in an “Arrive and Ride” race where the contestant used an identical Ducati 899 Panigale Superbike. BSBK is being held at the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) and has received support from the track to launch the first series of its kind in the gulf.
