Bugatti Reveals First of Six Vitesse Legend Editions

Over the next year Bugatti will roll out a new special edition run dubbed “Les Legendes de Bugatti” (Bugatti Legends) based on the Grand Sport Vitesse commemorating six of the carmaker’s most important heroes in its 104-year history. The first Legend to be unveiled is dedicated to Jean-Pierre Wimille, a French driver who won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1937 driving a Bugatti 57G and in 1939 piloting a 57C supported by Pierre Veyron, the man whose name is now synonymous with some of the fastest cars on the planet.

The Wimille Edition wears blue clear-coated carbon fiber and light Wimile Bleu paintwork inspired by the French racing blue worn by his 1937 Le Mans winning racecar. The color scheme continues in the cabin, which is finished with various colors and materials that reference the vintage Bugattis of yesteryear. Production of the Bugatti Legend Jean-Pierre Wimille will be limited to three models, one of which will debut at the Monterey Auto Week in California next week. Expect to see five more Legend Bugattis, all based on the 1,184-hp 8.0-liter W16-powred Grand Sport Vitesse, at a rate of every two months for the next year.
